Katie Kalkhof

OUTREACH

Katie was born and raised in Belltown, PA where her love of the natural world and ornithology prospered in the lush woodlands of Allegheny National Forest.

There she met her husband Eric before moving west to Colorado Springs, CO in 2016. In CO, Katie began her career as a Veterinary Technician with a particular interest in Anesthesiology.

After receiving her first Audubon Guide to California when making the move to Livermore, CA in 2021, a spark of inspiration ignited a passion for California’s diverse environment. While still in Northern CA, Katie continued her career as a Veterinary Technician and became an enthusiastic volunteer with the Bay Area’s “Street Dog Coalition”, dedicating her time and skillset to help the pets of unhoused people by providing medical treatments that they would not otherwise have access to.

In May of 2023, Katie and her family moved again, settling in Fresno. She dedicates herself to her work, both in medicine and her volunteerism, and is excited for what the future has in store for birding and conservation in the Central Valley. You can find her rock climbing, wood-burning, and curling up with her dog while flipping through her vintage Audubon book collection.
