08 Jan November 2018 Board Meeting Summary
The November 2018 meeting of the Board of Directors for Fresno Audubon Society (FAS) took place at the Fig Garden Library conference room on 11/25/2018.
FAS continues to maintain a prudent reserve and ensured that, for 2018, it took in enough money from contributions and membership fees to cover its standing obligations. The recent bird-a-thon allowed FAS to buy 1) binoculars for “learn to bird” classes, and 2) an up-to-date screen projector for classes and general meetings.
The board has developed plans for surveying River West and other segments of the San Joaquin River Parkway that are under development pressure, and will be seeking volunteers to take part in these on-going efforts. Information should be available in early 2019 for those who are interested in participating.
In partnership with the Parkway, FAS will also begin offering birding classes at the river. These classes will add to the FAS curriculum that has, until now, been taught at more remote locations on BLM land and Sierra Foothill Conservancy properties. We hope to encourage new birders with this more accessible location. If you have an interest in leading one of these classes, or getting involved, please contact Robert Snow at admin@fresnoaudubon.org.
Nancy Griesser and George Folsom will be developing a strategic plan for membership starting in 2019.
Fresno Audubon Society Board meetings are open to the public, at typically take place at the Fig Garden Library at 12:15 p.m. on the last Sunday of each month.
