Hey, everyone! I am starting a new fundraiser to benefit bird conservation both locally and abroad 🐦
Half of the proceeds will go toward Tricolored Blackbird (TRBL) conservation here in CA. This species has declined drastically due to largely to conversion of wetlands to agriculture and urban development. TRBL now nest largely in ag fields, putting their colonies in conflict with farmers needing to harvest their crops. Audubon California has been partnered with local chapters, the federal gov't, and the ag industry to cover farmers' loss of revenue from delaying harvest. Sadly, the federal gov't has reduced this funding, putting TRBL at risk. My hope is to help bridge that gap in funding!
The other half of the proceeds will go to @save_the_choco whose aim is to preserve habitat in the Chocó Rainforest in Ecuador. This highly diverse ecosystem has a high concentration of endemic and imperiled species, but unfortunately, only 2% of the original habitat remains, and agricultural interests pose an ongoing threat. Save the Chocó is working to bring more threatened habitat under protection, thus expanding the reserves already under their management.
I made these 1¼" button pins using some of my bird photography, and I am selling them for $5 each. ALL funds go to the above causes! If any of you are interested in purchasing some of these pins, please feel free to DM me here or reach out to me via email at tanagergirl@gmail.com on or before April 28, 2021.
